Peru Report - November 2009Dear Family & Friends,Our team of 22 from Australia, Canada and the U.S. returned the week before Thanksgiving with lots of great memories and new friendships forged from our 12 days in Peru. We so enjoyed having Jerame and Miranda Nelson with us who did several crusade nights, including Miranda’s first with Kathy translating. A smaller group of us (7) stayed another 3 days to make the trip to Machu Picchu, the amazing Inca ruin village high in the Andes Mountains. We started with a medical outreach in Pachacutec, an impoverished area outside the bustling congested city of Lima, where volunteer doctors, nurses and dentists attended to the mothers and children lined up outside the 3 shacks that were used as exam rooms. We had partnered with the local pastor and Lion’s Club who helped organize the event, brought medicines to give out and we provided food and helped feed them a hot meal. Our team members prayed with the moms, played with the children, painted their nails, passed out food and we shared the gospel on the makeshift platform after the Christian clown and Minnie Mouse attracted the children to come see what was happening. What a joy it was to share a tangible expression of Jesus’ love with these poor families. Some of the highlights of the trip were—n A young man with metal plate in his leg that dissolved as he jumped up and down, bent his leg and could feel the metal disappear!n A 4-yr old boy with cerebral palsy walked across the stage for first time as his mom broke down in tears!n Jim presented with honorary doctorate for all his work in Peru by executive director of CIHCE, Dr. Jorge Moran. n Prison visit in Huacho where dozens gave their hearts to the Lord as a young team member shared the gospel for first time in a prison. The ladies also shared and prayed with the women prisoners and saw several set free in their souls.n Visited Wilma’s kids in one of the schools, gave out toys and candy, loved them and prayed with them. Also visited the new orphanage to see its progress.n Rejoiced in salvation of many hundreds that came forward to make decision for Christ in the 4 crusades, 6 churches, conferences and many street opportunities.n The big bus where we spent so many hours together, sharing stories & testimonies, (some having first experience leading someone to the Lord) praying, singing, worshipping, laughing, making memories. After we returned home we continued to hear more testimonies. Our travel agent’s brother, Luis, gave his heart to the Lord on the bus, received prayer for healing and was told by doctor at his next visit that he no longer had diabetes! John, our coordinator pastor in Peru shared another awesome testimony. We held a one-night crusade outdoors in Sayan, a (seemingly) peaceful little town where our bus had police escort on the lonely road when leaving that night. Well 10 days before that there had been killings on that road from an organization wanting to take over the sugar cane fields and rumors of more death to come. After we prayed for peace over the city, John told us that 4 days later the principal directors of those wanting to take over sugar cane fields had signed a Document of Peace to resolve the situation. The pastors reported that God had not only brought His presence to Sayan, but also had brought peace!! Click here to watch short clip of our trip- Love & Blessings,Jim & Kathy Drown
